10 new electric guitars: July 2019

Every month, we compile a few lists of guitars fresh out of the oven. Here’s one dedicated to the latest electric guitars.
Morifone Quarzo

Canadian brand Morifone has launched Quarzo, its flagship electric guitar that combines ’59 Burst-inspired specs with a patented Aileron headstock. The latter feature boasts a unique upper-winged design that, while aesthetically pleasing, also brings about a few advantages: increased sustain, better tone, greater ease in bending strings, and better tuning stability. As for electronics, you can fit your choice of Lollar pickups into Quarzo’s two humbucker slots.
Cort G290 FAT
The Cort G290 FAT in Antique Violin BurstCort is targeting boutique enthusiasts with the G290 FAT. Although clocking in at under $1,000, this electric boasts a spectrum of premium features, including an arresting flame maple top, a comfortable Ergo-V neck profile and shape, as well as two VTH-77 humbuckers voiced for tonal versatility.
Supro Tri Tone

Supro first unveiled the tuxedo-black, three-pickup Triple Tone back in 1959. But it was in production for only a year. Until now – the brand has released the 2019 Tri Tone, an instrument that combines the Triple Tone’s vintage aesthetic with several modern appointments. A notable feature of the 2019 model is its three-pickup combination of an overwound Super Alnico single-coil at the bridge and period-correct Vistatone single-coils slotting in at the neck and middle positions.
Gibson Lee Roy Parnell ’59 Les Paul Standard

Gibson’s Custom Shop has released a second signature LP for soulful Texan Lee Roy Parnell. While this model retains design appointments from Parnell’s first LP – a ’57 Goldtop – its appearance is based on a flame top ’59 Burst. Standout features on this LP include revised pickup routes as well as an Abilene Sunset Fade burst inspired by Parnell’s native Texas.
Framus Panthera II Studio Supreme Masterbuilt

The second edition of Framus’ Panthera Studio Supreme, this electric guitar scores high marks for aesthetics with its carved AAAA flamed maple top and tigerstripe ebony fingerboard. This model also boasts a Seymour Duncan HSH pickup combination that sandwiches an APS-1 RW/RP Alnico Pro II staggered single-coil between an APH-1N Alnico II Pro (neck) and SH-5 Custom (bridge).
Fender Flame Ash Top Stratocaster

The Flame Ash Top Stratocaster is Fender’s latest addition to its premium Rarities collection. Like its peers in the range, this limited-edition axe is packed with boutique features. These include an exotic flame ash maple top, a set of Custom Shop ’54 single-coils and a decadent Plasma Red Burst finish.
Gibson Dave Amato Les Paul Axcess Standard

To celebrate the legacy of REO Speedwagon guitarist Dave Amato, Gibson Custom Shop has released this special signature LP. The six-string features specs from two of Amato’s favoured models – a ’59 Reissue and a Les Paul Axcess – and an alluring Boston Sunset Fade that pays homage to Amato’s Massachusetts roots.
Shergold Guitars Tango Fandango Masquerader

This special-edition SM01-SD model arrives in a striking orange finish. According to Shergold, this colour references Masquerader models of the 80s and 90s, which had orange and black finishes. Besides its souped-up appearance, the Tango Fandango Masquerader retains the feature set – designed by British luthier Patrick James Eggle – of other SM01-SD models.
LTD H-400

ESP has recently unveiled six new LTD 400 axes, all boasting shiny metallic fade finishes. The pick of the bunch is the H-400, which is decked in a scorching Crimson Fade Metallic finish. For tone, this axe relies on two Seymour Duncan pickups – Jazz (neck) and Custom 5 (bridge) – that arm you with “all the harmonically complex, dynamic tones you need”, according to the brand.
Solar Guitars A2.8BOP

The newest member of Solar Guitars’ Type-A range, this eight-string strikes a menacing pose with a sharp Type-A cutaway scoop and a blackout design. As for electronics, the A2.8BOP is loaded with two Duncan Solar humbuckers. Although these pups are capable of high-octane drive sounds, they can also be dialled back for pristine cleans.
