Music China 2018: PRS Guitars, Hotone, Höfner and Jim Dunlop (Day 2 Recap)

Music China 2018: PRS Guitars, Hotone, Höfner and Jim Dunlop (Day 2 Recap)

We’re back in the Shanghai New International Expo Centre for the second day of Music China 2018. Here’s what caught our eye.
If Day 1 of the fair was a sail through gear, gear and even more gear, Day 2 is an odyssey. We journey into the UK Pavilion, where brands such as Marshall and Hiwatt pitch their tents. We witness a Plek Station work its magic. And we get first dibs on a brand-new multi-effects unit that’s as powerful as it is affordable. More to follow…

Walls of Marshall stacks greet us in the UK Pavilion, one of 13 international sections that represent nations such as Japan, Italy and Taiwan.

Joe Stump struts his stuff. (We’re not too sure about that beer on the amp head, though…)

Of course, we can’t resist sneaking in a shot of Stump’s pedalboard.

Over at the German Pavilion, Karl Höfner charts its rich history.

Part of the brand’s Green Line series, the Höfner H500 / 1-HGL Bass is designed to be as light on plastic as possible – hence the wooden knobs, pickguard and bridge.

Nearby the Höfner booth, RockBoard proudly displays its pedalboards.

But another ‘pedalboard’ takes the title of one of the day’s best moments: the official launch and demo of the Hotone MP-100 Ampero.

The touchscreen-equipped Ampero is ready for its close-up.

Glad to meet the PRS Silver Sky again, after we reviewed it a few months ago.

Another familiar (fuzz) face: Jim Dunlop’s booth, where MXR stompboxes and Cry Baby wahs are on parade.

Dunlop guitar strings and accessories also make appearances.

And speaking of accessories, D’Addario brings out the goods. Cables, straps, capos…

…and every type of string imaginable.
We’ll be back tomorrow with more from Music China 2018. Keep an eye on our Instagram for live updates! The post Music China 2018: PRS Guitars, Hotone, Höfner and Jim Dunlop (Day 2 Recap) appeared first on The Guitar Magazine.
