Adding internal tap tempo mode for Flashback 2 Delay

Adding internal tap tempo mode for Flashback 2 Delay

Hey there,

I’m a happy owner of the HOF2 and the Flashback 2. After having spent some time with both pedals, I’d like to offer some feedback. As of now there’s no internal tap tempo feature for the FB2, so I’m using the pedal in conjunction with an MXR tap (which works fine, although it’s a shame you lose the stereo capabilities along the way). As far as I understand, the Flashback 1’s “audio tap” feature (which IMHO was neat but always a bit too involved for frictionless/invisible live use) has been removed in favor of the MASH function and cannot be retroactively activated via the editor.

I’d love to see TC add a mode of operation that works like the tap tempo implementation of the EHX Canyon (no plug intended), which is the most simple and usable solution I’ve come across so far that works with a single internal footswitch. For such a mode to work reliably it might be sensible to disable the MASH feature (no fun) or adjust the duration until MASH engages to not interfere with the tapping. I realise that increasing the activation time of MASH might be detrimental to its “playability” in a musical context but I think the software editor seems like a perfect playground to find one’s own sweet spot in that regard. BTW, the EQD Avalanche Run has a very usable secondary hold function for its tap switch, too.

I don’t know how much of a low hanging fruit adding such a mode would be, but I’m convinced that adding it and enabling tap tempo without additional gear would make the FB2 a much more useful pedal to a lot of people.

So, dear and beautiful humans at TC… Pleeasee?

(Also, please add a “drippy” spring to the HOF2.)
