Electro-Harmonix Tone Corset Analog Compressor – Tight as funk!

Electro-Harmonix Tone Corset Analog Compressor – Tight as funk!

Electro-Harmonix’s new Tone Corset Analog Compressor is the latest pedal from the New York pedal builder, an analogue compressor to keep your funk tighter than James Brown’s truss.

Blend

This simple analogue compressor is laid out in a very logical manner with four controls: Volume, Attack, Sustain and Blend. I cannot see anyone having a problem using this pedal to get clean, tight and compressed guitar sounds.

Having a Blend control essentially allows you to retain the dynamics of your guitar signal and still keep your signal under control. The only other control is a simple Pad switch which allows you to stop the pedal overloading into distortion when used with higher output pickups like humbuckers or active bass pickups.

Simple

The pricing is pretty competitive for a decent analogue compressor pedal. I love the simple layout and think it has all most of us would ever need from a compressor without overloading us with options. If the sounds quality is up to scratch, this pedal should be enough to keep your sound tight in a band situation. Of course, you may need more options for studio work, but there are plenty of higher priced boutique compressors on the market already.

The only thing that may divide opinion is the slightly suspect ‘corset’ graphic on the front of the pedal, but I can live with that for the price. Mike Matthews says, “The Tone Corset is the funkiest analog compressor I ever heard on guitar!” We hope he’s right!
