Summer NAMM 2017 – Hotone XTOMP mini
The new Hotone XTOMP mini squeezes an insane amount of guitar effects into the mini-pedal format. With the same open ended architecture of its old sibling the Hotone XTOMP and over 140 guitar and bass effects onboard.
Multi ‘mini’ Effects
You get over 140 effects for guitar and bass with the new Xtomp Mini pedal, these are all accessed using the iOS, Android or desktop app via Bluetooth/USB. You upload the sounds to the pedal and then use the onboard control knobs to change the parameters in real time.
I wrote about the original release of the Hotone Xtomp back in July last year, that one can hold up to 300 effects and so to squeeze in just over 140 into a mini version is pretty reasonable.
Hotone XStomp vs XStomp Mini.
The Comprehensive Dynamic Circuit Modelling algorithm is used by Hotone to model the effects and these include thing like; Amplifier, Cabinet, Distortion, Dynamic, Frequency, Modulation and Ambient effects.
I get the feeling that if you like to twiddle with software, then you may love this type of pedal. It’s way too much for someone like me (just give me hot valves and a dirt box), but if you are a geek that likes to tweak, then I am sure you will probably love this product.
Squeeze your budget
Also if you are on a budget and would like the possibility of having lots of effects, then for the money surely you should want to check these out, as the price I feel is very reasonable for what it has on offer. The full sized version of the Xstomp is normally USD $229, so you save a fair chunk of change on this mini edition, yes you lose about 50% of the available models, but you do still get plenty of effects for your money.
RRP USD 149.99
