Chase Music Acquires £1.2 Million Music Exchange Sheet Music Inventory Following Administration

Chase Music has completed the acquisition of the entire sheet music inventory of Music Exchange (Manchester) Limited following the company’s recent administration.

For many years, Music Exchange was recognised as one of the United Kingdom’s leading specialists in printed music, supplying musicians, music retailers, schools, colleges, universities and educational establishments throughout the United Kingdom and internationally. Its administration marked the end of an important chapter in the British music retail industry.

The inventory acquired by Chase Music was listed by the administrators at approximately £1.2 million and comprises more than 200,000 books covering in excess of 23,000 individual titles, making it one of the largest acquisitions of printed music stock by an independent UK music retailer in recent years.

Rather than allowing this substantial catalogue to be dispersed, the acquisition ensures that these publications will continue to remain available to musicians, teachers, educational establishments and music retailers for many years to come.

Amrik Singh, Proprietor of Chase Music, commented:

“Music Exchange played an important role within the music industry for many years and we are delighted to have secured its sheet music inventory. More importantly, this acquisition ensures that an exceptional catalogue of printed music will continue to be available to musicians, teachers and educational establishments throughout the United Kingdom and beyond. Printed music remains fundamental to music education and performance. We believe these publications represent an important musical resource, and it is essential that they continue to reach those who rely upon them.”

Established in 1977, Chase Music has built a reputation as one of the United Kingdom’s longest-established independent music retailers. The integration of the Music Exchange inventory is already underway and, over the coming months, more than 200,000 publications will be catalogued and made available through Chase Music’s Manchester retail premises together with its mail order and online sales operations.

The acquisition represents a significant expansion of Chase Music’s printed music department and reinforces the company’s long-term commitment to supporting musicians, teachers and music education.
