Catalinbread’s Dreamcoat and Skewer pedals were inspired by Ritchie Blackmore‘s iconic guitar tone
Catalinbread has announced two new pedals, the Dreamcoat and Skewer, both inspired by the tone of guitar icon Ritchie Blackmore.

Dreamcoat
The Dreamcoat is a replica of the Aiwa TP-1011 reel-to-reel microphone preamp favoured by Blackmore but features some additional features. A saturation knob lets you introduce more “grunt” to your signal, while a frequency boost parameter amplifies the 2.4KHz to
5KHz region. There’s also a blend control onboard for better control over your overall tone.

Skewer
The Skewer on the other hand – which works similarly to the brand’s Naga Viper – is based on the Hornby-Skewes Treble Booster, another piece of vintage gear that’s a mainstay on Blackmore’s rig. The pedal includes three control knobs: Skew, Boost and Extra. The first adjusts its frequency response and gain, while the second sets the amount of gain added, the last adds gain from the silicon transistor for especially gritty tones.

Pricing and availability
The Dreamcoat and Skewer will be sold exclusively as a two-pedal box set for its first month at a discounted price of $299.99 (usually $359.98) before being available individually in August. Individual prices have yet to be announced.
