Ozzy Osbourne commemorates 39th anniversary of dental bat decapitation with adorable plush toy

Ozzy Osbourne is marking the 39th anniversary of the infamous incident in which he bit the head of a bat by reissuing his line of Ozzy-branded plush bat toys, which of course come with removable heads.
Remembering the incident on Facebook, Ozzy wrote simply: “Today marks the 39th anniversary since I bit a head off a fucking bat! Celebrate with this commemorative plush with detachable head.”
On 20 January, 1982 around two years on from his first solo album Blizzard Of Ozz, Ozzy was performing in Des Moines, Iowa, when a fan threw an item across the stage – what Osbourne thought was a rubber toy bat. So, to provide some rock ‘n’ roll theatrics, he picked it up and bit down on its head.
“Immediately, though, something felt wrong. Very wrong,” he wrote in his memoir I Am Ozzy. “For a start, my mouth was instantly full of this warm, gloopy liquid, with the worst aftertaste you could ever imagine. I could feel it staining my teeth and running down my chin.” The moment immediately went down in rock history, and furthered Ozzy’s wild image. It’s now perhaps one of the most well-known and gruesome rock legends out there.
The 12-inch plush bat lists for $40 on Ozzy’s official store, and features an Ozzy Osbourne logo and a velcro detachable head.
