Sweetwater recycled over a quarter of a million guitar strings in 2024

Online music retailer Sweetwater has published its annual Impact Report. From reducing waste to providing schools with music equipment, the rundown explores how the company did its part to aid the environment, the local community, and support employee wellbeing throughout 2024.
Environmentally, Sweetwater reports that 2024 saw an increase in its “circular economy” of materials. The company reduced its material usage by reusing and recycling things that would otherwise have been discarded. Sweetwater notes that its Guitar Workshop recycled over a quarter of a million guitar strings last year in partnership with D’Addario.

The company also shares that its Fort Wayne distribution centre generated 1.4 million kilowatt hours of electricity across its 93,000 feet of solar roof panels. This could power 130 US homes and 250 professional recording studios for a year.
In terms of employee wellbeing, the company won 10 Comparably Awards for workplace excellence throughout 2024. This included recognition as Best Company for Culture, Employee Happiness, Work-Life Balance, Perks & Benefits and overall Culture. The company also received awards for Best CEO, Best Career Growth and more.
Sweetwater’s Impact Report also notes that they were included on Newsweek’s ranking of Greatest Workplaces for Parents & Families, as well as placing in 2024 North America Inspiring Workplaces Award’s Top 100.
The company also donated nearly $1 million to non-profit partners, including Women’s Audio Mission and the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund. as well as providing 42 under-resourced schools across the US with a music curriculum, tools and resources through Save the Music Foundation’s J Dilla Music Technology Grant.
