Color matched headstocks question

Hi all, I’m new here and I did the search function to find a thread discussing this question but I came up empty and blurry eyed from sorting through several pages of threads.

My question is I’m looking at a stingray that has a color matched headstock and I’m wondering is there anything different regarding these basses? Just seems like there might be something to it but I can’t find any info on it or why EBMM did this. It’s it really just a cosmetic thing?

It’s a California made bass, 3 bands eq, Maple fretboard.
