Sterling Albert Lee Model modding questions

Sterling Albert Lee Model modding questions

Hi everyone. I’m new to the forum and I’ve learned a lot from various threads about the Sterling Albert Lee model.

I’m a long-time Albert Lee fan, and over the past couple of years, I’ve developed a serious jones for his EBMM signature guitar – specifically the SSS version.

I’m not in a position to afford an EBMM AL, so I’ve been pondering whether it would be possible to mod the Sterling AL to get it into the ballpark of the EBMM AL SSS.

First, it would be ideal to get an AL SSS loaded pick guard, but if that isn’t possible, I could get similar PUs from Seymour Duncan. Anyone know specifically if EBMM sells AL SSS loaded pick guards?

Second, I gather routing will be required to accommodate the SSS configuration, but I don’t know what would be required to get the SC circuit working were I to procure the AL SSS loaded pick guard. I would imagine the pots, switch and wiring would need upgrading, etc.

I have a luthier who can do this stuff, but I’m just trying to get clarity on the feasibility of this project. I’ve had great success upgrading and modding various Gretsch Electromatics, but I’m pretty new to the EBMM/Sterling world.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
