Industry hopes that the CMA’s decision to fine Fender Europe £25,000 (http://www.musicinstrumentnews.co.uk/2019/03/26/fender-hit-by-cma-fine/ ) might draw a line under its enquiry into alleged MI industry anti-competitive agreements have been dashed by news that it is continuing its investigations, ‘analysis and review’.

In a statement issued on Monday 2nd April, the CMA says it estimates a ‘Decision on whether to issue a statement of objections’ may be made in the summer.

According to the CMA: ‘Following the analysis of the evidence on the files, if the CMA’s provisional view is that the conduct under investigation amounts to an infringement, the CMA will issue a Statement of Objections to each business it considers to be responsible for the infringement and give them an opportunity to inspect the CMA’s file’.
