Fender adds Red Mahogany Top Telecaster to Rarities Collection

A second axe has been added to Fender’s premium Rarities Collection for 2019: the Red Mahogany Top Telecaster. This follows last month’s Flame Maple Top Stratocaster. The new guitar, like its sibling, features exotic tonewoods and custom shop appointments.
In terms of tonewoods, the axe has a two-piece, grain-filled ash body and a figured red mahogany top. It also features a Deep C-shaped, one-piece maple neck and a 9.5-inch-radius maple fingerboard boasting tall frets for enhanced playability.

The tone department is also full of premium features, with the axe sporting a vintage-style 50s single-coil at the bridge matched to a Custom Shop ‘Twisted’ single-coil at the neck. The latter pickup is touted to deliver a fat-sounding neck tone. There are no surprises in the control section, as you’ll find a familiar two-knob layout – master volume and tone – alongside a three-way pickup selector.
Even the guitar’s hardware is premium-leaning: vintage-style bridge with three compensated brass saddles and gold tuning machines paired with pearloid buttons.
Retails at $2,499.99/£2,249. More info at fender.com.
