A new era for portable drumming: NUVO Zip-Kit launches in the UK
Frederick Hyde Music Distribution is delighted to announce the new NUVO Zip-Kit, a compact, fully acoustic drum kit developed specifically to overcome the physical barriers of full-sized drum kits.
Created by Dave Wish, founder of US nonprofit Music Will, the Zip-Kit was designed to make drum kits as accessible and manageable as guitars or keyboards. By reducing volume, footprint and setup time, it enables multiple players to drum together in the same room while preserving authentic technique and the geography of a full-size kit.
The Zip-Kit Essential (RRP £225) includes an 8” height-adjustable snare with mute pad, string-operated 10” hi-hat, 90-degree kick pedal with two-tone silicone beater, integrated 6” practice pad, adjustable stool, drum key and a pair of 7A hickory sticks, all stored neatly inside the bass drum when not in use. The kit is fully height-adjustable, can be configured for left-handed players in seconds, and can be expanded with additional toms and cymbals available separately.
Everything packs into the bass drum for easy storage and transport, making it ideal for schools, buskers, or for a practice kit on the go. This design was also recognised by professional drummers including Chad Smith, Liberty DeVitto and Gregg Bissonette, who engaged with early prototypes and praised its authenticity and musical integrity.
