Yamaha Launches New B Series Upright Piano Range

Yamaha Corporation announces the launch of its latest upright piano model, the B Series.

The new B Series upright piano delivers richer sound and improved usability at an accessible price. Building on the acclaimed B series, which has earned recognition in Europe – the birthplace of the acoustic piano and home to a strong classical music tradition – Yamaha has further refined its quality to create a piano that can be enjoyed by a wider range of players. To reflect this new value, the series is named the “B Series,” inspired by the idea of a “Beautiful life with a piano.”

Featuring newly developed hammers and a redesigned soundboard, the new B Series pianos deliver a pure, clearly articulated sound and a natural, expansive resonance which captivates and inspires players, all in a compact size that fits easily in the home. Improvements such as a redesigned wide music desk and a built-in soft-close fallboard mechanism further enhance user experience and safety. In addition,

a wide range of models is available to match diverse lifestyles. Three models of different heights are available, each offering the choice of SILENT Piano or TransAcoustic Piano technology. The new B Series range is manufactured at Yamaha’s Hangzhou Factory under strict quality control. As a brand built on lasting trust, Yamaha will continue to deliver the reliable quality of “Made in Yamaha.”

“The environment surrounding the piano business has changed significantly in recent years, and people’s lifestyles and values have become increasingly diverse,” said Yutaka Matsuki, Senior General Manager

of Yamaha’s Piano Division. “That’s exactly why we took a fresh look at the value of having a piano in everyday life, and crafted this piano with a clear vision of how to bring its appeal to more people. This new series offers major improvements in both playability and usability, making it a piano that can be enjoyed by everyone – from beginners to experienced players. We hope many people will have the opportunity to experience it for themselves.”

KEY FEATURES

1. Clear tone and rich resonance for a premium playing experience

Yamaha has developed special hammers for the new B Series that take advantage of the excellent elasticity of felt, reflecting knowledge gained from the development of the CFX Concert Grand Piano. They produce a focused, resonant tone that brings out melodies across the entire range. In addition, a redesigned soundboard – the source of the piano’s resonance – achieves a remarkably clear, spacious sound even in a compact size which is ideal for home use. The soundboard features a curved structure known as a crown, where even slight variations in shape can affect the tone. To protect this delicate structure from the strong tension of the strings and maintain optimal resonance, all models are equipped with five back posts. In the B10 and B20 models, the increased height expands the soundboard area, delivering a wider dynamic range and richer, more expansive sound. Longer bass strings also improve pitch stability and create a beautifully balanced sound with a rich bass.

2. Designed for immersive playing and a lineup suited to diverse lifestyles

Extending the full length of the fallboard, the wide music desk makes it easy to place multiple scores – or even long, unfolding sheets – without the need to turn pages. The top surface is deep and finished with non-slip fine artificial leather, providing stability even for thick music scores, and allowing for full focus on the performance. In addition, a built-in soft-close mechanism ensures the keyboard lid closes gently for added safety. To suit a variety of lifestyles, all models offer a choice between SILENT Piano, which enables practice with headphones, and TransAcoustic Piano, which allows volume control while preserving the instrument’s rich acoustic resonance. While maintaining the essence of an acoustic piano, A Music Desk That Extends the Full Length these features allow players to immerse themselves in performance anytime, without concern for time or surroundings.

3. In-house design and manufacturing ensure long-lasting, reliable quality

All stages, from parts production to final assembly, are carried out in-house under strict quality control. Backed by over 100 years of piano-making expertise and a scientific approach, Yamaha employs strict wood-drying standards to help minimize the effects of wood aging while enhancing resonance. In addition, all action components are machined with high precision and carefully assembled by skilled craftsmen, ensuring a smooth and consistent feel that players can enjoy for a long time.
