Origin Effects Release EQ DELUXE

Origin Effects Release EQ DELUXE

Origin Effects have added another studio-derived pedal to their line-up, in the form of the EQDELUXE Studio Equaliser & Drive. This new release is their tribute to the Pultec EQP-1a from the 1950s, a passive EQ that’s famous for the almost magical way it transforms low frequencies. The EQDELUXE packs this studio favourite into a compact pedal with features optimised for bass and guitar.

Those in the know might have heard of the “Pultec trick”, the nickname given to the instant low-end weight and clarity imparted by this vintage unit, and Origin Effects promise that their new offering captures this mojo, along with an ability to improve any signal chain just by being there.

“The EQDELUXE is a bass player’s dream. It’s a wonderfully hefty studio tone that we’ve all heard on hit records and now it’s available in a pedal” says Origin Effects Product manager, John Dines. “It’s not just about the Pultec Trick either. We’ve captured the saturation, warmth and musical EQ shapes that make the Pultec such an enduring and inspiring classic. Sometimes we can think of EQs as utilitarian, but this one is properly exciting!”

The slightly quirky and retro feature set stays true to the original ‘50s units, and includes a range of EQ frequencies chosen to best suit bass and guitar, though Origin Effects boast that the new pedal’s high headroom circuitry means it can be used with studio gear too.

Made in the UK with a brushed stainless-steel enclosure, premium components and Origin’s usual attention to detail, the EQDELUXE is now available from Origin Effects dealers worldwide or direct from Origin Effects. Find more information at origineffects.com.
