Walrus Audio’s new Canvas Expression pedal has no mechanical parts for better reliability
Walrus Audio has introduced a new addition to its Canvas Series, an expression pedal that promises minimal wear and tear overtime.
Building on its Canvas Volume pedal that launched earlier this year, Canvas Expression is said to offer smooth control without “the mechanical compromises of traditional expression pedals” thanks to its sensor operation.
Walrus Audio describes it as a “command centre” rather than a typical pedal, providing a control hub for compatible devices through Expression, MIDI, USB-C or CV, making it adaptable to pedalboards, synths, and computer-based rigs.

Engineered in Oklahoma City, Canvas Expression relies on a contactless precision magnetic position sensor for smoother operation and improved reliability, unlike conventional designs that rely on strings, gears, or potentiometers. With this modern take, the brand says it delivers “consistent performance with no mechanical parts to stretch, slip, or wear out”.
Users get simultaneous control over multiple devices at one time, and there are multiple analogue 1/4” expression connection options such as expression, CV and switch signals.
Using the Canvas Expression web editor, musicians can also further customise tapers, wiring, MIDI CC and PC assignments, CV settings, switch behaviour, and more to optimise compatibility with a wide array of setups.

Walrus Audio’s Canvas Series also features a number of other nifty tools like DI boxes and the Canvas Tuner, Clock, and even its own Rehearsal tool. The series aims to deliver the “cleanest, clearest signal possible throughout your rig”.
