Fender Japan has brought back the Swinger
Fender Japan has brought back the Swinger for a limited run.
The offset guitar, with a striking body design, was initially only made in extremely limited numbers in 1969, marketed as a student model and made from leftover parts from other models. The made-in-Japan reissue has been designed to be extremely close to the original guitar – its manufacturing equipment was dusted off, and updated to modern specification for the run. Yoshio Nomura headed up the project, choosing five colours for the reissue: black, Burgundy Mist Metallic, Dakota Red, Olympic White and Sonic Blue.
The guitar features two single coils (one more than the original guitar, which was fitted only with a neck pickup), master volume and tone controls, a metal-tipped 3-way switch, and a 22-fret short-scale neck with a rosewood fretboard. The bridge, like the original, is a three-saddle hardtail.
The reissue is only available in Japan at present, listing for ¥103,500 (around $1,000). More information at Fender.com.
