Gibson officially launches the Adam Jones signature Les Paul
Gibson has officially launched Adam Jones‘ signature Les Paul. The Custom Shop guitar is a recreation of Jones’ 1979 Antique Silverburst Les Paul Custom, his number-one with Tool for many years.
The guitar is built with a 3-piece maple neck, a mahogany body and a 3-piece maple top. Chrome hardware and black speed knobs complete the 70’s Silverburst Custom look.
The bound ebony fretboard has 22 frets, marked by block inlays, as well as a 12-inch radius. The guitar also sports a nitro finish to achieve the notable Antique Silverburst colour. Matching the neck, there’s 7-ply binding on the body’s top and 5-ply binding on the body’s back and on the headstock.
In terms of electronics, you’ll find an uncovered Custom-Wound Seymour Duncan DDJ in the bridge position, while in the neck there’s a reverse-mounted covered Custombucker. A DiMarzio 500 k potentiometer acts as the bridge pickup’s volume control, while the rest of the pots are CTS.
In the case, you’ll also find a recreation of the mirror that Jones attached to his headstock, as well as a certificate of authenticity. The case itself was shared by Adam Jones ahead of the launch, a custom-designed hardcase that matches the guitar’s finish.
Gibson is also set to premiere of a video of Jones himself demoing the guitar later today, at 5 PM Central Time.
The launch follows a lot of speculation, rumours and anticipation about a new signature from Gibson and Jones, right up to the leaks of preorders of the guitar.
