“These guitars are going to turn some heads”: PRS’s beloved SE lineup gets a stunning exotic wood veneer makeover
PRS Guitars has announced a limited-edition update to its SE Series, featuring four models elegantly refinished with exotic wood veneers.
Arriving as part of PRS’s ongoing 40th Anniversary celebrations – which sees the brand unveiling new models each month – this SE Exotic Veneer lineup offers a fresh aesthetic twist to some of the series’ most popular axes.

The collection includes the SE Custom 24-08 Poplar Burl, available in Charcoal Cherry Midnight Burst and Lake Blue Midnight Burst, the SE Custom 24 Burled Ash in Lake Blue and Natural, SE DGT Laurel Burl in McCarty Tobacco Sunburst, and SE McCarty 594 Laurel Burl in Vintage Sunburst.
With only 5,000 units available worldwide, these guitars are set to be quite the collector’s item. In addition to the aesthetic upgrades we’ve mentioned, PRS has also refined the SE Swamp Ash Special, upgrading its electronics with a more versatile five-way blade switch in place of the previous three-way toggle.
Other key features of the SE Swamp Ash Special remain, including its 85/15 “S” and PRS-Designed AS-01 Single Coil pickups, push-pull tone control, 22-fret bolt-on maple neck and fretboard.
