Bob Dylan surprises fans with a ultra-limited edition collection of recordings, including the George Harrison sessions

Bob Dylan surprised fans yesterday when, without any fanfare or real pre-announcement, a three-disc collection of rare recordings – including the George Harrison sessions – was put on sale.
Entitled Bob Dylan – 50th Anniversary Collection 1970, the collection landed only via UK retailer Badlands, which wrote: “This release is strictly limited to 1 unit per customer. Extremely limited release. It will sell out instantly … Thank you and best of luck.”
The release is the latest by Dylan in the EU to prevent recordings from entering the public domain – which they would do if they aren’t released officially by the copyright holder after 50 years. Dylan first did this in 2012, with a release collating his 1962 recordings.
The extensive collection of recordings is aimed more at die-hard completionist collectors rather than average listeners, packed with countless takes of the same song. Notably, however, this is the first official issue of Dylan and George Harrison’s session from 1970, where they jammed on tracks both Beatles and Dylan. It had circulated as a low-quality bootleg recording before.
The full, enormous tracklist of Bob Dylan – 50th Anniversary Collection 1970 is below – although, best of luck finding the absurdly limited release through any official channels. But, following the official release, it looks like the quality of bootlegs that get passed around might increase somewhat.
