Brian May suffers minor stroke and temporarily loses control of arm

Brian May was recently rushed to hospital after suffering a “minor stroke” briefly losing control of his arm, he has revealed.
The 77-year-old Queen guitarist makes the revelation in a new video posted to his YouTube channel, where he details the “health hiccup that happened about a week ago”.

“The good news is that I can play guitar after the events of the last few days,” he reassures. “I say this because it was in some doubt, because that little health hiccup that I mentioned happened about a week ago, and what they called it was a minor stroke.
“And all of a sudden out of the blue I didn’t have any control of this arm. So it’s a little scary. I have to say I had the most fantastic care and attention from Frimley hospital where I went.”
He goes on: “I didn’t want to say anything at the time because I didn’t want anything surrounding it. I really don’t want sympathy. Please don’t do that because it will clutter up my inbox, and I hate that.
“The good news is I’m okay. I’m just doing what I’m told which is basically nothing. I’m grounded. I’m not allowed to go out. I’m not allowed to drive, not allowed to go on a plane, not allowed to raise the heart rate too high.”

Brian May has experienced numerous other health issues in recent years. In 2020, he revealed he was rushed to hospital after suffering a heart attack, saying he was “very near death”.
In other news, Brian May recently released a documentary, Brian May: The Badgers, The Farmers and Me, a look into badger culling which he promised would “outrage viewers more than anything since the Post Office scandal”.
