British Drum Co. gets regimented

Three and half years after the company’s formation, the British Drum Co’s Marching Division has launched its Regimental Series of marching drums, saying: ‘The Regimental Series represents the elite instruments of the marching world and the drums are of the standard you would expect to see during such events as the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace, the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, or entertaining heads of State from around the world’.

The Regimental Series range consists of four different snare drum options designed to suit all players, including younger drummers. It also includes tenor and bass drums in a range of different sizes and colours.

British Drum Co. says that though its Regimental series might appear quite traditional, inside they are distinctly cutting edge. ‘The Palladium hardware that features prominently across all other British Drum Co. products also plays a major role in the Regimental Series, but the real advances are to be discovered just beneath the surface, particularly on the RS1 snare drum.

‘The flagship snare drum in the Regimental Series is the RS1. One of the most innovative developments in this drum is the inclusion of the Upper and Lower Levitone snare mechanisms. Brand new technology, developed entirely in-house, the Levitone systems allow for simple but extremely accurate fine tuning and a smooth and silent changeover of snares when needed. Levitone is an elegant, functional innovation with stunning aesthetics quite unlike anything seen before on a traditional marching drum’.

Reinforcing the seriousness of the company’s challenge in this market, British Drum simultaneously announced that its flagship drum, the RS1, has just been supplied to the Corps of Drums of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines. ‘Recognised as the best in the world and with their exacting attention to detail, it comes as no surprise that the Royal Marines Corps of Drums have chosen the British Drum Co.’s RS1 snare drum to help maintain their outstanding position among the best military drummers in the world’.

The Royal Marines Corps of Drums will showcase their new British Drum Co. Regimental Series drums at their annual Mountbatten Festival of Music concert held at the Royal Albert Hall on Friday 15th and 16th March.

British Drum Co. CEO Keith Keough said: ‘As the CEO of the British Drum Co. – a UK manufacturing company that’s only just over three years old – I am immensely proud to be able to launch the Regimental Series. Every single member of the BDC team has put their heart and soul into this project and the Marines’ overwhelmingly positive reaction to our drums has been a validation of our drum-making expertise’.
