Classic Jazzmaster tones with “absolutely no hum”: Seymour Duncan unveils hum-killing Jazzmaster Silencer pickups

After launching its P-90 Silencer range back in 2023, Seymour Duncan has launched a new set of pickups for its Silencer line, this time for the Fender Jazzmaster.
With a patent-pending triple-coil design, these new Jazzmaster Silencer pickups promise to deliver classic Jazzmaster tones with “absolutely no hum”.

Two configurations of Jazzmaster Silencer pickups are available: Vintage and Hot.
The Vintage Jazzmaster Silencer is geared towards the more “authentic Jazzmaster tones”, delivering “bright, punchy cleans and warm, mellow growls”, perfect for “surf-inspired riffs, shimmering indie textures and pedal-driven soundscapes”.
Meanwhile, the Hot Jazzmaster Silencer offers a little extra edge, providing classic Jazzmaster character but with “higher output and enhanced power”. “The bridge pickup delivers sharp definition and sustain for solos that cut through the mix, while the neck pickup adds full-bodied warmth and low-end depth,” Seymour Duncan says.
Take a look at these Jazzmaster Silencers in action in the demo video below:

Compatible with any standard Jazzmaster, while these Silencer pickups have an innovative triple-coil design, they still sport Alnico 5 pole pieces for that traditional Jazzmaster aesthetic.
With its promise of punchy highs and lows, the silencer’s clarity is particularly beneficial for those who love to stack up on fuzz pedals and high-grain effects. “When you’re stacking overdrives and fuzzes, which do pair very well with the Jazzmaster sound, you get that noise amplified throughout your signal chain,” the promo explains. “When it comes out of your amp, it can be quite harsh or interfere with the sound.”

While some may turn to humbuckers to cancel out noise, this sometimes has a detrimental impact on your sound. “With stacked humbuckers, you remove noise, but you also have issues of phase cancellation,” the promo video explains. “This reduces low end and reduces the overall output of the pickup. To make up for that, stacked humbuckers are traditionally overwound, which then reduces the high end response of the pickup.”
“The benefit of this triple coil design is that all three coils are actually in phase with each other,” the video explains. “That means no phase cancellation and no reduction in high or low end. The outer coils eliminate hum, while the centre coil delivers true Jazzmaster tone.”
The Vintage Jazzmaster Silencer and Hot Jazzmaster Silencer sets are available now for $278. For more information, head to Seymour Duncan.
