Darkglass adds Vintage Ultra V2 and Deluxe V3

Darkglass has upgraded its Vintage Ultra bass FX pedal to V2, adding a dedicated headphone output and balanced direct output with switchable digital impulse-response cabinet emulation. This can be loaded and changed via USB with the free Darkglass suite software.

With the same Darkglass classic overdriven tone from the Vintage Microtubes and Vintage Deluxe, the Ultra version adds a four-band equaliser and a dedicated foot switch to engage the drive section independently. Master volume controls the overall unit level, while a three-way toggle switch gives even more control for each mid-range section.

The estimated retail price will be £389.

Also new is the Vintage Deluxe V3, which the maker says is: ‘…perfect for those players who want that classic, warm and tube-like overdriven bass tone that is so familiar in many styles of music from the past five decades’.

The Vintage Deluxe takes the tone circuit from the Vintage Microtubes pedal, then adds a 4-band active EQ, parallel output and a balanced line driver (DI), while the additional Grunt and Attack switches sit right before the clipping stage and boosts the low and high end respectively, right before the signal heads into the drive section. This adds additional levels of saturation and/or emphasis for even more tonal variation, Darkglass says.

The UK price will be around £309. Both units will be available in early May.
