Eventide launches standalone pedal for its UltraTap delay
Eventide has officially launched the partner to the MicroPitch standalone delay pedal, the UltraTap delay.
The pedal is described by Eventide as the “the mother of all Echoplexes” – meaning it functions like a multi-headed tape delay, but you can add as many tape heads as you want, and control their delay time and output levels.
The pedal has some self-explanatory controls such as feedback, mix, pre-delay and tap division. Aside from these, the Taps knob allows you to select up to 64 taps, and its secondary function, Slurm, mushes these taps together for a sound that’s part-delay, part-reverb.
The spread control allows you to equally centre the taps or to group them closer together at either the start or the end of the total delay time. Chop also allows for a huge number of modulation options, as well as swells and envelope-based effects.
The unit can store five directly-accessible presets, or up to 127 with a midi connection, enabled via either a TRS jack or a USB connection.
The pedal also has a mono input and stereo output, and any range of parameters can also be mapped to an expression pedal, and extra-deep editing is available with the Eventide Device Manager software. There’s a choice between different impedance modes, meaning both guitar-level and line-level sound sources will behave well with the delay.
