Fontaines D.C. members think the Oasis reunion is “really annoying” because nostalgia means “we’re forgetting to make new things”

Members of Fontaines D.C. have spoken out about Oasis‘s return – and their comments have caught the attention of Liam Gallagher.
In a radio interview with Studio Brussel, [per NME], Fontaines D.C. band members Carlos O’Connell and Conor Deegan III share their thoughts on the Oasis reunion, stating that nostalgia often comes at the cost of new art.

“I couldn’t really give a shit, to be honest,” O’Connell replies when asked about the Gallagher brothers’ patching things up.
Deegan adds: “I’m not excited about it either, to be honest. I feel like we get caught in the last era – like the ’10s – and into such a nostalgic thing that we’re forgetting to make new things.
The guitarist continues, “I feel like what we were wanting to do with this record [2024’s Romance] anyway was to look into the future and make new things… So for Oasis to reform at this moment for us is really annoying.”
The comments, however, didn’t go unnoticed as Liam Gallagher has since hit back with a quick response.
Gallagher chimed in on the topic when asked about them by a fan on X whether Fontaines DC could be a possible opening act for Oasis’ upcoming tour. The musician replies: “Fuck them little spunkbubbles I’ve seen better dressed ROADIES.”

Gallagher doubled down on his response replying to another fan who showed support for the Irish band. “They look like a shit EMF,” he replies.

As Deegan and O’Connell face backlash from Gallagher, Fontaines DC’s lead singer Grian Chatten has posted a comment clarifying that he doesn’t feel the same about Oasis as his fellow bandmates.
Responding to an NME post on Instagram, Chatten comments: “I love Oasis. This is not my opinion.”

The Gallagher brothers’ decision to revive Oasis hit headlines as did their upcoming world tour, ‘Oasis Live 25’, which has seen unprecedented demand, with all 14 initial stadium dates sold out.
The band’s first run of dates include two shows at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, four at Heaton Park in their hometown of Manchester, four dates at London’s Wembley Stadium, two at Edinburgh’s Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium, and two at Dublin’s Croke Park.
Since then, Oasis have added two extra dates in London for September 2025 for fans who couldn’t snag tickets in the first sale.
It’s no secret the Gallaghers brothers love a spat — Oasis publicly split up in 2009, with the siblings taking shots at each other throughout the years. The siblings both stayed in the industry with Liam performing and touring independently and Noel forming The High Flying Birds.
Oasis officially announced their surprise reunion with a new press shot by Simon Emmett and witty comment: “The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised.”
