Gibson’s first ‘Behind the Board’ video delves into the sounds behind ‘Nightmare on Elm Street’
Gibson has debuted a new series on its YouTube channel, Behind the Board, which will, as Gibson says, take “music fans on an in-depth look at the creation of some of music’s favourite albums”. You can watch the episode above.
The first episode features the composer Charles Bernstein, who has scored, among many other films, horror movies such as April Fool’s Day and Cujo, alongside Wes Craven classics Deadly Friend and Nightmare on Elm Street. The latter is what the first entry to Behind the Board focuses on.
Bernstein delves into his early guitar influences, including his early experience working alongside producer Phil Spector. He also delves into how he got into composing, the immediacy of guitars and how the score was used to add to the storytelling in Nightmare on Elm Street.
