Guitar.com Live: Carlos Lopez on his journey to becoming a Master Builder
Guitar.com Live: Carlos Lopez, the highly-acclaimed Fender Custom Shop Master Builder, sat down with the esteemed Mike Adams to discuss his journey to becoming one of Fender’s most revered luthiers, life inside the dream factory and much more.
The pair spoke about Lopez’s beginnings at the Custom Shop and his penchant for the unsung hereoes in Fender’s guitar line, which began with the Brawler Baritone.
“I was making those in my garage for a few years, making them for friends. I made a handful of them, they’re floating around somewhere,” he jokes.
Elsewhere, Lopez reveals his love of offsets due to a certain grunge guru. “I love offset guitars because of Kurt Cobain,” he reveals. “It’s my generation, he was my guitar god. Weezer, all those guys from that era.”
The Master Builder also discusses his upbringing in music, hearing his Dad’s love of rock and roll and how his parents helped shape his love of music and guitars. Watch the full interview above.
