“I had to go busking and not eat for quite a while to get it!”: Richard Hawley on his 1963 Fender Jaguar

In the final installment of our short interview series with Richard Hawley he talks about his beloved 1963 Fender Jaguar in Lake Placid Blue.
Hawley alludes to owning the guitar for nearly 30 years, acquired from his friend and fellow Sheffield musician Steve Fellows, famed for his time in The Comsat Angels and as the manager of the Mercury Prize winning band Gomez.
He also reveals that he was receiving state benefit at the time, and paid just £230 for the guitar. “I had to go busking and not eat for quite a while to get it!” he laughs. “It really is one of my favourite guitars, it has a beautiful neck.”
