Jane’s Addiction reunion? “No chance,” says Dave Navarro, following onstage fight last year
Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro has said there is “no chance” the band will play together again following a shocking onstage altercation with frontman Perry Farrell last year.
The band’s show at Boston’s Leader Bank Pavilion on the night of 13 September 2024 – featuring the original lineup of Navarro, Farrell, drummer Stephen Perkins and bassist Eric Avery – was abruptly cut short when Farrell attacked Navarro mid-show, seemingly out of nowhere.
Soon after, Jane’s Addiction canceled the remainder of the tour, citing a “continuing pattern of behaviour and the mental health difficulties of our singer Perry Farrell.”

Now, speaking with Guitar Player, Navarro reflects on that night as a moment that not only ended a tour, but permanently ended Jane’s Addiction.
“I have to speak in broad strokes here, because there are other individuals involved, and it’s still very tender and unresolved,” says the guitarist.
“There was an altercation onstage, and all the hard work and dedication and writing and hours in the studio, and picking up and leaving home and crisscrossing the country and Europe and trying to overcome my illness – it all came to a screeching halt and forever destroyed the band’s life. And there’s no chance for the band to ever play together again.”
“I have to say that’s my least favorite gig, without throwing animosity around, and without naming names and pointing fingers, and coming up with reasons,” Navarro continues.
He also notes that things had been going smoothly prior to that night in Boston, though the positivity did not last.
“I’ll just say that the experience prior to that gig, when we were in Europe and gelling, really, for the first time – because at our ages, in our 50s and 60s, everybody’s done what they’re gonna do, and we weren’t competitive with each other – we were getting along,” he says. “There was no ego issue; it was just four guys making great music, just like we did in the beginning. I was just us on a stage, with people going fucking crazy.”
“And that gig, September 13th, in Boston, ended all of that. And for that reason, that is my least favorite gig that I have ever played.”
In the wake of Jane’s Addiction’s implosion, Navarro has remained musically active with bandmates Avery and Perkins. The trio appeared to be back in the studio earlier this year, though no new material has been announced as of yet.
