JHS ends production of Ross effects just 18 months after reviving the iconic brand – Josh Scott reveals they’ve sold less than 400 Ross pedals in 2024
JHS Pedals has officially pulled the plug on its Ross effects line, just 18 months after reviving the iconic brand. Founder Josh Scott says that despite initial excitement surrounding the relaunch (and the release of a new line of pedals under the Ross name), sales have plummeted, with fewer than 400 units sold in 2024.

Despite an encouraging launch that saw 4,500 Ross pedals fly off the shelves in August 2023, the initial excitement quickly faded. By the end of last year, total sales reached 5,400 units and that number took a nosedive in 2024, with just 333 units sold since January.
In a new video posted on the JHS Pedals YouTube channel, Scott admits that while the revival was a passion project, it ultimately turned out to be more of a “leech” on his time and energy.
The pedal connoisseur and manufacturer also says that moving forward, JHS will be focusing its energies on creating in-house pedals instead.
“I was deep into bringing brand two, brand three and brand four out, but there’s the writing on the wall,” Scott says. “So I have officially decided to no longer entertain JHS bringing back a legacy brand. I’m just going to focus on making the best JHS pedals we can make for our JHS fans.”
“And you’ve probably seen this if you’re a viewer,” he continues. “We just dropped like three pedals in three [weeks]. That’s exciting — having that momentum and energy towards our own brand. I know we felt it internally, this decision to drop some of these peripheral legacy brand things has given life back. As much as I love it, it was a leech on my energy and time… Cause we’re a small business.”
“Fun” as they are, Scott adds, “these launches are just not smart for my team. It’s a huge honour to get contacted about this stuff but this is my official resignation from that possibility.”
In the wake of this decision, the company now finds itself with an inventory surplus of 3,700 Ross pedals. But there’s a silver lining: starting Friday (15 November), all remaining stock will be sold at an insane bargain price of $79 per unit (the pedals cost $76 to make, just to put things into perspective). So if you’ve ever dreamed of owning a piece of pedal history — or if you just need a last-minute gift for that guitarist friend who insists on using vintage gear — now’s your chance.
