The Penny Saver Royale brings together two stompboxes from Way Huge’s catalogue: the WM28 Overrated Special Overdrive and the Blue Hippo Chorus pedal.
The WM28 Overdrive is one of Bonamassa’s signature dirt pedals; it’s a sauced-up version of the Green Rhino overdrive, with punchier mids. It also features a frequency parameter to fine-tune the effect’s midrange emphasis. Other controls include volume, drive and tone.
Meanwhile, the Blue Hippo circuit is an analogue chorus with speed and depth controls, as well as a delay time parameter calibrated to Bonamassa’s taste. The original’s secondary vibrato function, however, has been omitted in the Penny Saver Royale.

The Penny Saver Royale is priced at $299 and will be available on Bonamassa’s online store. For reference, the WM28 Overdrive and Blue Hippo are available for $170 and $150, respectively.
In other Way Huge news, the brand recently launched a pair of exclusive pedals to tie in with Reverb’s upcoming documentary, The Pedal Movie. The new Beer Overdrive and Effect Pedal are reskins of the Saucy Box Overdrive and Swollen Pickle fuzz, respectively.
