John 5 says we need more good rock ‘n’ roll bands: “We need them, because they’re going away”
Where are all the great new rock ‘n’ roll bands? John 5 would like you to show yourselves.
The Mötley Crüe guitarist is growing rather concerned about the future of rock, and feels we need more bands to shout about themselves as classic artists are stepping down from life on stage.

In an interview on The Jeremy White Show, 5 discusses his excitement for the highly anticipated Best Of All Worlds Tour, for which Sammy Hagar, Joe Satriani, Jason Bonham and Michael Anthony will hit the road to play classic Van Halen material.
After sharing his joy on the chance to hear this music live again, he begins to discuss why it’s good to have a rock band like this one continuing on amid other classics retiring, with Kiss being just one example.
“It’s very strange because all these bands, they’re slowly going away,” he begins (via Ultimate Guitar). “And it’s totally scary to me, because we have good rock ‘n’ roll but we need more good rock ‘n’ roll. We need more bands to come out there. We need more bands to say, you know, ‘Look at me!’ I can’t wait to see new rocks. We need them, because they’re going away.”
5 and host White go on to discuss how few original bands also no longer have the same line up, due to members having left or died. The Rolling Stones and Queen are two he praises for continuing on despite this: “I’m speaking as a fan. I would love to see AC/DC one more time. I would love to see… I mean, incredible. Just take The Rolling Stones. What if, when Brian [Jones] died, what if The Stones were like, ‘That’s it. No more Rolling Stones.’ We’d have a few records. Unbelievable, huh?”
He adds, “Name any band… [Queen with] Adam Lambert is amazing! You want to hear these songs. Music is about having a great time, and forgetting about life for a while. That’s what you’re supposed to do; you’re supposed to enjoy the music.”
