John Lennon At 80: Sean Lennon to conduct radio interview with Paul McCartney and Julian Lennon
To commemorate what would have been John Lennon’s 80th birthday, the late Beatle’s youngest son, Sean Ono Lennon will be hosting a special two-part celebration on BBC Radio 2.
During John Lennon At 80, Sean Lennon will speak with Paul McCartney, Elton John and his older brother Julian Lennon.
Sean and Julian Lennon – who have different mothers – have never previously spoken together about their father in public. Similarly, it will be the first time that Sean Lennon will speak with his father’s former bandmate, Paul McCartney for the masses.
The radio broadcast is set to take place on BBC Radio 2 on 3 and 4 October at 9-10pm BST.
During the program, McCartney remembered meeting John Lennon for the first time. “I look back on it now like a fan,” he said.
“How lucky was I to meet this strange teddy boy off the bus, who played music like I did and we get together and boy, we complemented each other!”
Looking back on the early days of writing music with Lennon, McCartney divulged: “there were a few songs that weren’t very good”.
He added: “Eventually, we started to write slightly better songs and then enjoyed the process of learning together so much that it really took off.”
