Keeley Electronics releases the Katana Clean Boost in minimalist Throwback White finish
Keeley Electronics has revamped its famed Katana Clean Boost with a new finish, aluminium control knob and updated circuitry.

The minimalist look matches the functionality of the pedal: a high-headroom clean boost that, in its default mode, increases the volume of your signal without colouration. Alternatively, you can pull the knob out for a fatter, harmonically rich boost that blurs the line between boost and overdrive.
Keeley said that the new design came after it “listened to what our players wanted and went back to our roots.”
The new Katana uses the same JFETs as the original, as well as the same component values from the original Katana,. The boost mode has been updated for a clearer bass character, while the build has been updated with “modern construction techniques.”
The knob for the dual-purpose control is now aluminium, as opposed to the plastic that the previous iteration came with.
Inside, the pedal boosts the standard 9V supply to 18V with a charge pump, offering large headroom for the internal JFET transistors. Keeley notes that you shouldn’t power the pedal with 18V in the hopes of getting even more headroom out of 36V – you’ll more likely just fry something.
