Marilyn Manson wanted by police in New Hampshire for alleged “spitting” incident
An arrest warrant for Marilyn Manson has been issued by a New Hampshire police department for two counts of simple assault, linked to an incident that happened back in 2019.
Manson [real name Brian Hugh Warner] faces two counts of simple assault for allegedly spitting on a videographer while performing at the Bank Of New Hampshire Pavilion on 18 August 2019, according to TMZ. The Gilford Police Department has issued a statement on the matter on Facebook:
“The alleged assaults involved a videographer. Mr Warner, his agent and legal counsel have been aware of the warrant for some time and no effort has been made by him to return to New Hampshire to answer the pending charges,” they wrote.
The Gilford Police Department made it clear that “the alleged assaults are not sexual in nature” and are separate from other recent allegations made against Manson.
Manson’s attorney, Howard King, issued a statement to NME regarding the incident: “It is no secret to anyone who has attended a Marilyn Manson concert that he likes to be provocative on stage, especially in front of a camera.
“This misdemeanour claim was pursued after we received a demand from a venue videographer for more than $35,000 after a small amount of spit came into contact with their arm. After we asked for evidence of any alleged damages, we never received a reply.”
He added: “This whole claim is ludicrous, but we remain committed to cooperating with authorities, as we have done throughout.”
Meanwhile, Manson is still facing allegations of sexual abuse from several claimants. According to a report by The Cut published on 18 May, the musician’s former assistant Ashley Walters has sued him for sexual assault, battery, and harassment.
Californian State Senator Susan Rubio has submitted a request to the FBI and the Department Of Justice to carry out an investigation, following abuse allegations made by Evan Rachel Wood – Manson’s former partner – made on 1 February.
