NAMM 2018: Blackstar

NAMM 2018: Blackstar

The big news from Blackstar this year is that it is moving into the bass market, with its Unity Pro Bass System, being billed as ‘the new face of bass’.

Though the new Unity range won’t be available until June this year, Blackstar will have a full line-up of combos on its stand, a range that stretches from 30 Watts output to 500 Watts and features a unique Response control that allows the player to choose between the sound and feel of three classic power amp stages, shaping compression, natural drive and dynamics. Combined with three distinct pre-amp voicings and a three-band semi-parametric EQ, the new amps certainly seem well specified.

There will also be the Unity 250ACT powered cabinet which can be linked to any model in the line to add 250W or more of active power to a rig. Models will come in 30, 60, 120 and 250 Watt versions starting with a single 8″ speaker in the U30 and culminating with twin Eminence 10″ drivers in the U500.

Features include onboard effects, including compression, plenty of input control and output options.
