NAMM 2019: Jackson launches new JS Series Spectra Bass range, refreshes X Series Concert Bass range
Jackson continues its NAMM run with a brand-new JS Series Spectra Bass range and an updated X Series Concert Bass range. The Spectra models feature unique appointments that greatly enhance playing comfort, while the Concert Bass models are kitted out with new pickups, tonewood options, and some interesting new finishes.
JS Series Spectra Bass range
The JS Series Spectra Bass JS2 in Tobacco BurstThe three models in this new category are the JS Series Spectra Bass JS2, the JS Series Spectra Bass JS3, and the JS Series Spectra Bass JS3V. The former two are four-string basses, while the latter is a five-string bass.
The JS Series Spectra Bass JS3 in SilverburstAll three models feature an all-new offset poplar Spectra body shape as well as a large upper horn. The latter ensures an even weight distribution across the instrument, which enhances playing comfort.
The JS2 comes loaded with a Jackson J-style bridge pickup and P-style neck pickup. These pups combine to deliver punchy and defined tones, which can be further sculpted via three knobs: Blend, Bass Boost (with push/pull) and Volume.
The JS Series Spectra Bass JS3V in Walnut StainThe JS3 and JS3V models are each fitted with two passive Jackson medium-output humbuckers that are voiced for a deep, bellowing growl. In addition to two main knobs – Blend and Volume – these basses also feature an onboard three-band active EQ.
The JS2 is available in Gloss Black, Metallic Blue, Snow White andTobacco Burst finishes, and retails at £210. The JS3 is available in Gloss Black, Metallic Red and Silverburst finishes, and retails at £300. The JS3V is available in Satin Black, Silverburst and Walnut Stain finishes, and retails at £345.
Refreshed X Series Concert Bass range.
The X Series Concert Bass CBXNT IV in Matte Army DrabThe models in this range have been spruced up with new pickups. They each feature a Jackson J-style bridge pickup and a Jackson P-style neck pickup, which are wired to an active three-band EQ for deeper tone sculpting.
The X Series Concert Bass CBXNTM IV in Snow WhiteThe CBXNT IV and CBXNTM IV have been furnished with new tonewood and finish options. The former features a poplar body, a 34-inch scale, a one-piece maple neck-through body, and a Matte Army Drab finish. The latter has similar features – with the exception of a maple fingerboard – and comes in Butterscotch and Snow White finishes.
The five-string cousins of the two models above have also been updated with new tonewood options and finishes. Here are the details:
