NAMM 2019: Casio claims ‘world’s slimmest digital pianos’

Casio has been busy with new model launches and previews lately and doesn’t disappoint at the show with its newly launched PX-S digital pianos. The two models, the PX-S1000 and PX-S3000, are just 232 mm deep and form the latest generation in the Privia series. Taking their cue from the slogan “Slim. Stylish. Smart.”, they are extremely compact digital pianos with an authentic hammer action and Smart technology compatible.

Casio says the newly developed Smart Scaled Hammer Action Keyboard provides the player with a natural piano touch and the touch screen interface offers: ‘the most stylish of design ascetics’ (Sic– we suspect they meant aesthetics. Casio goes on to say that the Multi-Dimensional Morphing AiR sound source ensures ‘a stunningly accurate piano sound-field’ from the 8W+ 8W speakers.

Both feature Bluetooth, which gives users the option of using the piano as a Bluetooth loudspeaker and playing along to their favourite songs from streaming platforms.

Casio adds that the ‘Chordana Play for Piano’ App is available for free with both models. It can be used as a practical remote controller or also as an interactive learning tool. The new PX-S models are optional battery/mains. The PX-S1000 will be available in black and white while the PX-S3000 comes in black only. Optional extras include the CS-68 stand, 3-pedal unit SP-34 and a piano carrying bag – SC-800P.

The new PX-S models and the associated accessories will be available from April 2019. The PX-S1000 will be priced at an RRP of £575, and the PX-S3000 at £795.
