NAMM 2020 Video: Is the Streamliner Junior Jet Club Gretsch’s answer to the Les Paul Jr?
NAMM 2020: The brand-new Gretsch G2210 Streamliner Junior Jet Club, debuted at NAMM, is the company’s idea of a raw, stripped-back rock ‘n’ roll guitar. The best part? It’s only $/£300.
The Junior Jet Club is aggressive, compact and, in Gretsch’s words, “built to take a beating”. It has a single-cut nato body and bolt-on U-shaped nato neck, a 12-inch-radius laurel fretboard with 22 medium jumbo frets, and is equipped with two Broad’Tron humbuckers for a robust, throaty and mid-rangey roar. Controls take the form of a master volume, master tone and three-way pickup switch.
The Junior Jet in GunmetalUnlike the Gibson Les Paul Junior, however, the Junior Jet Club is adorned with several cosmetic appointments, such as a tortoiseshell pickguard and pearloid thumbnail inlays. It’s available in Golddust, Gunmetal, Imperial Stain and Vintage White.
This guitar is one of the brand’s many launches at NAMM 2020. Its other big releases are the Jet Baritone, the “Rat Rod” hollowbodies, and a double-cutaway Double Jet. All three are from the Gretsch Electromatic range.
