Noel Gallagher wishes Oasis ended in an onstage fight

Noel Gallagher has reflected on the end of Oasis, and how his sour relationship with Liam Gallagher came to a head in the run-up to the band’s split.
In a new interview, Noel looks back on the 2008-2009 Dig Out Your Soul tour, which infamously ended early when the Oasis songwriter posted the following statement on the band’s website: “It’s with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer. Apologies to all the people who bought tickets for the shows in Paris, Konstanz and Milan.”

Speaking to The Daily Star, Noel said he wished instead that he’d played the Paris show, speculating that his sparring with his brother would “would have carried on to the stage, maybe not the physical fighting but the verbals between us.”
“Sometimes I think, ‘I wish I had the memory of that gig,’” he continued. “That would have been the way to go out. But it had to happen… we were getting pissed and fighting, and then [it was] me going, ‘Fuck it, I’m going home. Fuck off!’
“With the benefit of time, I don’t know whether it would have been better to stay and do the gig… which would have been like a monumental, mad fucking Oasis gig.”
Following Noel Gallagher’s sudden departure, the band’s August performance at that summer’s V Festival ended up being their last. In other Noel Gallagher news, a signature Gibson J-150 is expected to drop later this year, following a recent teaser video posted on Gallagher’s social media channels.
