Prestige Guitars’ Devin Townsend Empath signature available for preorder
Prestige Guitars has announced that the latest run of Devin Townsend signature acoustics, the Empath, is now available for preorder.
The guitar is hand-built and features a Dreadnought cutaway shape. Construction-wise, there’s a Torrefied Adirondack Spruce Top, Indian Rosewood Back and Sides, and 3A Flame Maple Bevels on the armrest, backrest and cutaway. There’s also a hand-carved Mahogany Neck; Ebony Fingerboard, Ebony Bridge, Bone Nut and Saddle, and a natural Satin Finish.
Prestige Guitars say that this combination of materials and construction “results in a rich soulful sound, with crisp overtones and loud sonic definition.”
Devin Townsend himself said the Empath is “the culmination of the past 30 years of trying to figure out what I want out of an acoustic instrument.” While he’s well-known for his genre-melting metal music, he also plays in a more laid-back, folky style in the duo Casualties Of Cool.

The acoustic lists for $2,699. A 50% deposit is required upon placing your order, with the rest of the balance being collected prior to shipment in October 2020. The current production run is limited to 100 guitars worldwide and is open until 30 August 2020.
