Rolling Stones launch new limited-edition ‘Stones Red’ vinyl of Sticky Fingers

In celebration of the album’s 50th anniversary, The Rolling Stones have announced a special limited edition of their LP Sticky Fingers.
The record is the latest to be pressed in the band’s special ‘Stones Red’ colour, which you can see below.
Image: PressThe album, released on 23 April 1971, was received as one of the band’s best at the time, and now finds itself in many ‘best rock album of all-time’ lists. Among the songs included are Stones classics Brown Sugar, Moonlight Mile and Wild Horses. Sticky Fingers also marked the first use of the band’s tongue and lips logo, which was designed by John Pasche, while the suggestive cover art was conceived by Andy Warhol.
The pressing will be first available on 3 December 2020 at the band’s own store, 9 Carnaby Street, with 500 copies available in-store. After this, on the same day at 8 PM GMT, 500 copies will be up for sale online at carnaby.therollingstonesshop.co.uk.
The Rolling Stones’ RS No 9 store was launched back in September with the ‘Stones Red’ repress of Goats Head Soup. The band said of the launch at the time “Soho has always encapsulated rock ’n’ roll so Carnaby Street was the perfect spot for our own store. We are confident this exciting project that our friends at Bravado have created will be an unrivalled experience for everyone to come to London and enjoy.”
The Goats Head repress that launched the store sold out in under 24 hours, so the band encouraged fans to be quick if they want a copy. The store opens at 10 AM, with vinyl listing for £25.
Another anniversary the Stones have coming up is their 60th as a band – set to occur in 2022. Last month, Keith Richards spoke of his current plans for the celebration which are, succinctly, “to still be alive.” Other than that, however, nothing is concrete yet: “First off, I’m going to get through this year and see how we handle next year. Because I think at the moment, there are more problems than a Rolling Stones celebration. Although I’m very glad that we’re all here, but I’ll leave it at that if I can.”
