Rumours of a Talking Heads reunion are shot down by David Byrne, after being sparked by ‘official’ Instagram account

Ex-Talking Heads frontman David Byrne has dispelled talk of a Talking Heads reunion, after an Instagram account with the handle @talkingheadsofficial appeared on the platform, setting the rumour-mill in motion.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, Byrne explained: “I have never heard of this, I don’t know what it is or who is doing it, so clearly it can’t be an ‘official’ Talking Heads account. Whatever plans others in the band may have is strictly their own business and I wish them well.”
Drummer Chris Frantz and bassist Tina Weymouth, in a joint statement to Rolling Stone, also noted that the band are all “happily working on [their] own projects and there are no plans for a Talking Heads reunion.” they explained the account was “brought to life by someone who works with Jerry [Harrison, Talking Heads keys player and guitarist].”
Talking Heads were formed in 1975 by Byrne, Frantz, Harrison and Weymouth. Their debut album, Talking Heads: 77 was released in 1977 to moderate success, but their next three Brian Eno-produced records would gain them the status of one of the most acclaimed groups of all time. This trifecta included the seminal 1980 record Remain in Light.
The immediate response from fans to the unverified account is understandable: recently, an unverified Rage Against the Machine account appeared on Instagram – and quickly turned out to be the real thing, preceding an official reunion announcement. However, it seems that’s not the case with this Talking Heads account.
