The Doors’ studio bassist Doug Lubahn has passed away

Doug Lubahn, studio bassist for The Doors, has passed away. He was 71 years of age.
Lubahn was most well-known for being a session player for The Doors, which never had a full-time bassist. He was credited for playing bass on three of the iconic group’s albums: Strange Days, Waiting For The Sun and The Soft Parade.
His wife, Pat Devanny, broke the new of his death via Facebook on Sunday. “Words could never express the sorrow. He was the love of my life. I’ll miss the laughter more than anything,” she wrote.
The cause of Lubahn’s death has yet to be released. Following news of his death, tributes to Lubahn have poured in from fellow musicians and fans alike.
The Doors released an official statement on their Twitter page. “Our condolences go out to the family, friends and fans of Doug Lubahn,” the band wrote. “Doug made indelible contributions to rock and roll, and especially to The Doors. He played bass on Stage Days, Waiting for the Sun and Soft Parade. #RIP, Doug.”
Aside from playing with The Doors, Lubahn also had his own bands: Clear Light, Dreams, Pierce Arrow and Riff Raff. He also played for other artists like Pat Benetar, Billy Squier and Ted Nugent.
