Blackstar’s BEAM just became an even more useful practise tool with this major free update
Blackstar has confirmed their Beam Solo app will receive a huge, free overhaul on iOS and Android. While the update is available on iOS from August 28, Android users will need to wait until September 30 to get their hands on the new tools.
We were hugely impressed with the Beam Mini when we reviewed it earlier this year, and as part of that review we got a sneak peek at how impressive the Moises tech can be. Said tools offer stem separation technology, meaning app users can separate the guitars from the rest of the mix for almost any song streamed or played from your device in real time.

Those using the app can now instantly mute the guitar and isolate the guitar parts for easier fret learning. You can also turn down the vocals and perform the song yourself with this new app update.
All those using the app need to do is connect to your Beam Mini or Beam Solo, start playing their music and adjust the mix with the slider options available in real time.
Several features are included as part of the Mosies Integration update. This includes premium stem separation free for all Beam users, as well as the ability to turn down other instruments and vocals by 25% in order to better hear the guitar part you’re trying to nail.
The really impressive thing is that this is compatible not just with the Beam Mini practise amp, but also with the tiny Beam Solo headphone amp, and the update has already rolled out on iOS devices, with Android following at the end of the month.
