An 11-year-old managed to impress Kiko Loureiro with her soloing prowess at his recent guitar camp in Helsinki.
In footage circulating on social media, Aanika Pai takes to the stage with a fetching red Ibanez RG550 borrowed from Loureiro himself, which was plugged into a Neural DSP Quad Cortex. She then proceeds to play several blindingly fast solos, evidently taking influence from classic rock and speed metal.

“What an unbelievable moment! Thank you Kiko Loureiro for the amazing guitar camp in Helsinki,” wrote Pai’s parents on Instagram. “Aanika was super lucky to get to use one of Kiko Loureiro’s first Ibanez guitars in the guitar experience camp.”
Pai has also gained recognition for her series of guitar covers that she posts online and has so far shared takes on Van Halen’s Jump, Queen’s Somebody to Love, Pearl Jam’s Alive. She’s even taken on tracks from Loureiro’s former band Megadeth, including Lucretia and Killing Time. So far, she has amassed 45,000 followers on Instagram.

Loureiro’s inaugural Guitar Experience Camp took place last month and saw guitarists from all over the world join him for a weekend of “learning and inspiration” at a former jail turned hotel in the Finnish capital. The event will take place again in June next year.
In other news, Loureiro recently opened an official shop on Reverb. Highlights of the collection include a Gibson Les Paul Modern which the guitarist played for two songs every night during Megadeth’s 2022 tour, a selection of acoustic guitars – a tour-used Godin Multiac ACS SA Grand Concert, Godin Arena Pro CW, and an Ibanez GA6CE-AM used on tours in 2019, 2021 and 2022.
