The J-180 is one of Swift’s most trusted guitars. She has been seen playing it in other live performances, notably on NPR’s Tiny Desk and at this year’s Academy Of Country Music (ACM) Awards ceremony. In October 2020, she even auctioned one of her J-180s in benefit of the ACM’s COVID-19 relief fund.
Swift picked up the Album of the Year gong for Folklore, which together with Evermore were ‘surprise’ albums that she released in 2020. All three tracks that she performed were from this pair of records.
The win also makes Swift, who now has 10 Grammys under her belt, the first female solo artist to win the top prize three times. She had previously won in 2010 for Fearless and in 2015 for 1989.
Swift was not the only guitar player to win big at this year’s Grammys. H.E.R. won the Song of the Year prize for her single I Can’t Breathe, while The Strokes picked up the Best Rock Album for their 2020 comeback record The New Abnormal. Vince Gill, Snarky Puppy and James Taylor were among the other guitar-slinging winners.
