Watch the trailer for Neil Young’s Mountaintop documentary about new album Colorado

Neil Young has released the trailer for Mountaintop, the new documentary that chronicles the making of Colorado, his forthcoming album with his Crazy Horse band. Watch Young record live with his longtime band in the studio via the trailer above.
The 86-minute-long documentary – previously referred to as Mountaintop Sessions – gives “a raw and extremely unfiltered look at the process of Neil Young with Crazy Horse making their first album in seven years”, the official synopsis reads. “Witness the laughter, tensions, crusty attitudes and love of a rock ’n’ roll band that’s been together for 50 years as they share their passion, first and foremost… for the music.”
The film is billed as a Bernard Shakey and Dhlovelife picture, the former being Young’s directorial alias, as Rolling Stone notes. In a note to fans on the official Neil Young Archives website last Friday, Young – signing off as Shakey – wrote, “You may be surprised to learn some of the deep secrets of the process as you laugh your ass off in a theater near you.”
Mountaintop will receive a one-night-only screening in select North American theatres on 22 October, and in Europe and South America on 18 November. “One night only and there is a reason for that,” Young wrote, though he did add, “It will be back. Mark my words.”
Colorado will be released 25 October via Reprise Records. The follow-up to Young and Crazy Horse’s 2012 album Psychedelic Pill, it was co-produced by Young and longtime collaborator John Hanlon. The current Crazy Horse line-up consists of Young (guitars, vocals, piano, harmonica), Nils Lofgren (guitars, vocals, pump organ), Ralph Molina (drums, vocals) and Billy Talbot (bass, vocals).
